Take Flight Takes the Stage! 2019

Take Flight Takes the Stage!

We hosted our first ever Take Flight Takes the Stage concert on Sunday, April 14, from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. The event was held at the National Airline History Museum, a sprawling venue with  historic air crafts, which were on display and open to tour. Two hundred individuals with disabilities who live at home or with an agency and their caretaker(s) attended this free event. Kansas City’s hottest party band, Lost Wax, and DJ Ashton Martin, provided the unforgettable entertainment for the evening. Guests enjoyed delicious refreshments and danced the night away. We look forward to seeing everyone at our next event!

Fly Day 2018

Fly Day 2018

Take Flight KC sponsored and hosted another successful Fly Day for kindergartners from Ervin Early Learning Center on September 27. This was the 7th Fly Day event, and the 2nd one that Take Flight KC sponsored and hosted. Kindergartners spent the day in Hangar 1 at the Lee’s Summit Airport touring airplanes, learning about aviation from pilots, enjoying a private airshow from KC Flight Formation Team, and meeting KCPD helicopter pilots as well as members of the Kansas City and Lee’s Summit Police and Fire Departments.

Thank you so much to all of the other sponsors and volunteers! All of the hard work is worth it to see the wonder and excitement on each child’s face.

Airline Museum Fly Day

In an effort to give back to the community in which it operates, Take Flight KC board members volunteered at a Fly Day for the Independence School District’s Kid’s Safari summer school program. The event took place at the National Airline History Museum in Kansas City, Missouri, on July 18, 2018. In attendance were 130 kindergarten through middle school students. Students enjoyed touring multiple large and small airplanes including a Super Constellation, a Martin, a twin engine Navajo, a single engine formation plane, and more. KCPD flew in their police helicopter and did a Q&A. Middle school students received a special tour of the air traffic control tower. It was a great day out at the Museum!
